CLUB WATERS

The waters that we control range from
still waters and canals right the way through to rivers. We like to
think we have something for every one from the youngster that wants
to catch his first fish right through to the chap who wants to fish
for a specimen, or the senior citizen who just wants to sit quietly
reminiscing.
We are fortunate in that we control several areas along the River
Nene as well as on the River Great Ouse. The pictures above are of
one of the River Nene stretches we have. At Earls Barton Mill and can provide some excellent autumn or winter Roach
fishing. It can also produce some good Bream and Perch as well as
the occasional winter pike.

The River Great Ouse.
The jewel in our crown some would say. We have various fisheries
along the Great Ouse which include Newton Blossomville, Carlton, and
of course Turvey a prime Barbel water that is quite capable of, and
quite often does produce fish to in excess of fourteen pounds.
Turvey is probably the most popular fishery we own with chaps and
lasses coming from near and far for a chance of that fish of a life
time. We do not allow day tickets on the water. It is a members only
venue and is very well cared for by a dedicated bailiffing team.
We have many more River fisheries but
they are on the River Nene. Cogenhoe and Weston Mill to name but two.

The Grand Union Canal.
On the G.U.C. we control fourteen miles of prime match water. Which
stretches from Dodford near Weedon in the North to Yardley Gobion in
the South. We are extremely lucky in that we only have one flight of
locks over the whole length so there are no surges on the water all
the time and on top of that the fish seem to grow to a better size
with Roach to over the pound Tench to over seven, Perch to, three
three, and carp to the early twenties. As members of the NFA we are
eligible to host National Angling events. In 2002 we hosted both the
Embassy doubles and the Division four national. Both events were
staged in the height of the holiday season and despite the
considerable boat traffic both events were success with good weights
being caught. This year 2006 we are hosting the division 2 national
angling championship.
Still Waters.

Meadow Lakes.
A small self contained fishery on the out skirts of Northampton. The
two small lakes are set in the country and over the last two years
have thrown up some very big surprises There are a good head of
Roach Bream Perch and Tench in the waters but the special fish are
the resident carp which currently go to just over thirty. There is
on site parking and all the pegs are done with paving slabs. The
Eastern, flatter bank is accessible to disabled people who can if
finding walking difficult take their car and park it behind their
peg.

Swan Valley Lake .
A body of water situated on the Banbury Lane just outside
Northampton. The lake has a good head of coarse fish of all species
with some respectable carp recorded in recent months. The Lake has
always been classified as free water by locals but the owners have
now leased the water to the Club. It is for the time being to remain
a members only water at the insistence of the proprietors.
Shelfleys Lake
Shelfleys is a park lake owned by
the NBC it holds a good head of fish which include roach bream and
tench. Due to the lake being situated in a public park close to
residential properties there is a night fishing ban in place.
Otherwise the rules will be the same as Meadow Lakes with the
exception that members shall be allowed to use a maximum of two rods
only. Regardless of the amount of Angling Licences held. There shall
also be no bivvies, tents or other structures allowed with the
exception of normal umbrellas.
We do have a lot more water than that
mentioned and full details can be obtained from The Membership
Secretary or the Chairman. SEE
