 2006 SPECIMENS
Today brought us a wonderful surprise  when we received a picture of Rays best ever fish a Mirror carp of twenty six pounds. From what we were told the fish was camera shy and either it was named oopsey or? did Ray have an accident?

Well done either way Ray.

18TH July 2006 turned into a blinding day for lady member Chrissie Jordan. Whilst fishing the clubs Meadow Lakes fishery with partner Andy. During one of the hottest spells of weather for years Chris took the temperature up another level when she hooked into her personal best a Common Carp of twenty seven and a half pounds. She tamed the fish using her own flavoured luncheon meat and due to the fishes enormous girth she had to get Andy to hold it up for a picture. She was unable to lift the specimen, and was quick to point out that although Andy is holding the fish it was in fact the boss who caught it. As for Andy he is studying Chris's tactics closely in a hope that he may learn something and indeed beat her PB.

FISH OF 2005

Terry Scrutton fished the larger of the two lakes at Meadow Lakes on Monday 8th of August and lost several fish before landing the Common pictured below which was weighed by Club Waterkeeper Darren Atkins and tipped the scales at 34 pounds. The fish won terry the specimen cup for 2006

The fish pictured below was caught by Simon on the morning of Friday 27th of June and went twenty seven pounds.

LAST YEARS FISH

After years of trying to break the impenetrable silence of the Secret Society (Turvey Barbel Anglers). Water keeper John Attfield, has managed to let us have a photo of one of his fish. A splendid Barbel. Which was the smaller of the two fish he took in an hour and twenty minutes.

This page was created after several requests to see the best reported fish of the last season. As yet it is in it's infancy but we are always looking for photos of good fish caught on any of the club waters.

Peter Wood with his well deserved prize after a battle lasting near to an hour. The fish was taken from Meadow Lakes.

John Watts managed to land the best recorded Club caught Carp at Meadow Lakes landing a dark coloured fully scaled Common which sent John's scales sailing in the direction of the 27 pound mark. The fish Johns best from the Meadow Lakes was rod caught in the margins on 6 pound line. The fish won John the annually awarded specimen trophy.

Ron Collins who took part in a match at Meadow Lakes during the Autumn was having a pretty miserable August match until he contacted the 25lb  specimen Common Carp he is holding above. The fish was in mint condition and took Ron a good while to land. The fish fell to Pole fished lob worm at about 9 metres.

Sam Chapman was having a short session on the large lake at Meadow Lakes and had a good run of smaller fish to his credit when the tip of the feeder rod he was using went round and the result was this personal best Tench of 4lbs 8ozs. Which fell to flouro pinkie fished in the margins. Well done to Sam who has the best Junior fish reported.

Carlton Fletcher of Nelson Angling Club surely deserves the honours in the best outside match results  Carlton took the brace of commons pictured above during his club match fished at Meadow Lakes. He took his first fish not long after the start whistle with his second coming mid way through the match. Both fish were margin caught on the feeder.

Royal Mail worker Steve Newman had a red letter day with two carp which fell to him in the same session up to now the biggest recorded club caught fish on the water. A fish of 24 1/2 and a 23 both fish were immaculate commons.
